At Ashcraft Orthodontics Little Rock, we use the latest in dental technology to bring the greatest level of comfort and treatment results to our patients. Taking impressions of the upper and lower arches is a key and necessary component of the orthodontic treatment we provide. Impressions capture detailed information of the upper and lower arches and how the teeth fit together and allow Dr. Michael Ashcraft to properly plan each patient’s unique course of treatment. To make your impressions comfortable, convenient, and highly precise, we use the iTero® 3D intraoral scanner. This advanced piece of equipment is a lightweight wand that we place over your teeth and jaw, eliminating the need for messy and uncomfortable alginate or putty impressions. Learn more about how we use digital impressions to create healthy, beautiful smiles for patients of all ages by scheduling a visit at our modern Little Rock, AR orthodontic practice today.

"First let me say this, like I have seen other reviews saying the staff in the back are very pleasant to be around, nice, courteous, and very friendly, I would agree and I haven’t really ran into rudeness at the front desk BUT however since COVID has started I was not informed on anything. My daughter had an appointment, they didn’t call to let me know they had shut down and will try to reschedule in the future after knowing a little more information. I had to call them and got the automated recording that their office was closed. Then didn’t get a call to let us know they had reopened and if we needed anything as far as fixing braces or other problems with her braces, THEN they didn’t call to let us know they where now able to remove braces now, I once again had to call them!! I know there have records of their patients and they should have on of the staff members at least calling patients. Who knows, we could have had her braces off by now and I've being waiting several months wondering about this information. The last phone conversation I had with their office the lady said they would inform me when they moved into the phase where they could start removing braces, but no call. I had to call them!!! It’s a little frustrating when there is no communication."- K.T. / Google / Aug 28, 2020
"Always good service! He’s a really nice guy and so is his staff. I highly recommend him if anyone needs a good orthodontist."- L.M. / Google / Jun 29, 2020
If you have ever had a traditional dental impression taken, you likely understand how uncomfortable it can be. Digital impressions are not only more comfortable, but they also provide Dr. Ashcraft with greater detail and information about your teeth and jaw. This approach is great for all patients, especially those with a sensitive gag reflex, children, and individuals with small mouths or narrow arches. Digital impressions are used in a wide range of treatments, including the creation of expanders, space maintainers, retainers, and clear aligner trays. Our team also uses digital impressions to plan your orthodontic treatment with traditional braces and other types of care.
What to Expect
With iTero digital technology, taking impressions is fast, comfortable, and accurate and lets us better streamline your care to deliver the best possible results. There is no need for impression trays or goopy materials to capture the information we need to provide excellence in orthodontic care. To take digital impressions of your upper and lower teeth, we place our intraoral scanning wand over your teeth. This technology is extremely safe and noninvasive and does not deliver any radiation to the tissues. The iTero laser transmits this information to our software and computer monitor, which generates a 3D replication of your teeth and gums within 2 – 3 minutes. Our team is highly trained in iTero technology and is proud to offer this advanced diagnostic solution to Central Arkansas patients.
Once your digital impressions and 3D computer-generated models of your teeth are complete, Dr. Ashcraft will review the information we have collected. Our advanced CAD/CAM software along with digital radiographic imaging allows him to forecast your final treatment results and plan the stages of your care accordingly and with greater precision. We will review your recommended treatment plan and explain the procedures in detail. Since digital impressions to do not involve any materials, there is no aftertaste or after-effects to worry about.
The cost for digital impressions is typically included within the treatment for which the impressions are being taken.
